Early Life and Education: Sonya Welch-Lightford was born and raised in a community where access to financial education was limited, and artistic talents often went unrecognized. This upbringing fueled her determination to make a difference in the lives of children and families facing similar challenges. Sonya pursued her higher education, earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on nonprofit management. Her educational background laid the foundation for her future endeavors in creating the International Honor Society NFP.
Sonya Welch-Lightford founded the International Honor Society NFP in 2014 with a clear mission: to provide children and parents with the tools they need to achieve financial literacy, unlock their artistic potential, and build a brighter future. She recognized the importance of addressing financial literacy from an early age to empower future generations to make informed financial decisions.
